HIGH LIGHTS FESTIVAL IN MONTREAL…This festive season returns to Montréal for a touch of sophistication, culture and a true “taste of Canada”, from February 18th to February 28th for the HIGH LIGHTS FESTIVAL, with dance, theater and even a circus. Lovers of fine dining should include this festival schedule, as over 50 chefs will entice you with the best of their fare at themed brunches and culinary workshops.

WINTERLUDE IN OTTAWA...Every February, Canada’s Capital Region is host to Winterlude, Canada’s winter celebration. Three fun-filled weekends of excitement and activity await the whole family! From spectacular ice carvings to an amazing playground made of snow, Winterlude is a great way to take in the best of Canadian winter. Skate on the largest skating rink in the world – right in the heart of Ottawa! Celebrate Winterlude starting February 5th thru Feb 21st, 2010.

Day 1 - Arrive Ottawa

Welcome to Ottawa, Canada’s Capital. Canada’s capitol is a jewel – the soft green of weathered copper roofs and the weathered stone of Parliament Hill give it an elegance enjoyed by few cities. Enclosed with your documents is a voucher for your transfer from the airport to your hotel. The Fairmont Chateau Laurier puts you right in the heart of everything: The Houses of Parliament, 12 national museums, galleries, public statues, libraries, The Rideau Canal as well as an array of restaurants all for your choosing.

Days 2 & 3 – Ottawa

Every February, Canada’s Capital Region is host to Winterlude, Canada’s winter celebration! Three fun filled weekends of excitement and activity await the whole family! From spectacular ice carvings to an amazing playground made of snow, Winterlude is a great way to take in the best of the Canadian winter. Skate on the largest skating rink in the world – right in the heart of Ottawa! Marvel at majestic snow sculptures or groove to energetic rhythms at the American Express Snowball. Don’t forget to also allow time for Ottawa’s historical landmarks, scenic waterways and beautiful parks. Parliament Hill, the Canadian Museum of Civilization, Rideau Falls, Royal Canadian Mint and the National Gallery of Canada are just a few of the fascinating sites you can visit while in Ottawa.

Day 4 - Ottawa to Montreal

The rail station in Ottawa is just a short taxi ride from your hotel. An afternoon train from Ottawa to Montreal, aboard VIA Rail, let’s you sit back, relax and enjoy the two hour ride. The rail station in Montreal is located under the lobby of the Fairmont Queen Elizabeth Hotel. There is so much to see in this radiant city with its beautiful churches, museums and of course, the underground city. You could take a stroll through the Latin Quarter to see the trendy bohemian side of the city.

Day 5 – Montreal

The Highlights Festival is celebrated in Montreal each winter with activities offered for those lovers of wine, cheese and fine dining. Hundreds of culinary, wine and gastronomic events in some fifty of Montreal’s finest dining establishments. Star chefs from all over the globe partner up with Montreal chefs to prepare an enticing array of festival menus. The tasting event, gala evenings and workshops are all ways to enjoy and participate in this festival! Also in the offering; a chance to view some of the most significant international artists, Montreal’s classical and contemporary music orchestras, theatre companies and dance troupes.

Day 6 – Montreal

Your city tour is a great way to get an overview of this lovely city. Your sightseeing tour brings to light Montreal’s history and achievements. Along the way you realize why people love living in this city. Your visit takes you to the top of Mount Royal, through neighborhoods with splendid houses and a striking view of downtown Montreal and the St. Lawrence River. Also atop Mount Royal is St. Joseph's Oratory, one of the most visited shrines in the world. On the way to Olympic Park, you will pass through some of Montreal's earliest neighborhoods - with stairways that have a very interesting history. Notre-Dame Basilica is beautiful and an exceptional example of Gothic Revival architecture. Old Montreal, located along the shores of the St. Lawrence River leads into the Old Port, one of the largest redeveloped old ports in the world. Visit Bonsecours Market and City Hall in this area. If you want to explore on your own, you will find that it is easy to use the underground system or stroll through streets full of energy and atmosphere.

Day 7 – Montreal / Home
