Trains Across Canada

Dear Earle..

Thanks for keeping me up to date on what is going on in the tour-travel business. The couple that went with my wife and I on the "Trains Across Canada" tour you put together for us a few years ago is still discussed every time we get together. That was an unforgettable experience.. the hotels and bus tours and timing of the whole thing was the most exciting and fun thing we have ever did.  The last few years we have made a couple of paddle wheel boat trips up and down the Mississippi River and they were fun but do not compare with the trip you put together on the train for us.  Maybe sometime we can look into something like that again. If so we will certainly contact you.

There is no reason to write this note to you except to tell you... Thanks again.

High Tides & Scenic Trains

Dear Mr. Leaman,

I just want to let you know that my husband and I, Ali and Sara Topcu, have completed our trip to New Brunswick.  We returned last Sunday, the 14th.  We had a perfectly delightful time and everything went like clockwork.  Moncton was charming.  The Hopewell Rocks were fabulous and we really enjoyed St. John and St. Andrews.  We met some people who were on the same tour but one day ahead of us.  We saw them at Moncton, St. John and St. Andrews.  That was fun.
Thank you for everything,
Regards, Mrs. S. Topcu, From CA.

Dear, Earle,

We just returned from our trip last night and wanted to drop you an e-mail to tell you what a wonderful job you did on all of our plans....We truly enjoyed every hotel, etc. they were wonderful...The only hotel that was disappointing was the last one at the airport, and also wanted to tell you FYI that there is a brand new Hilton Garden Inn one exit away from the airport at Halifax that you might want to be in touch with...It was brand new and looked nice.

Again, thanks for everything.  We had a wonderful trip,

Best of Both Worlds

Hi Earle:
We ended up staying the last night in Vancouver and getting up at 4am to get to Seattle for the flight.  We were there in plenty time with only about a 15 min wait at the border at that time.  The vacation was wonderful.  All of the facilities were fantastic.  We were so happy that we got a lakefront view at the Lake Louise, it was well worth it!

Thanks again,

Marcia & Charles S.; Fort Lauderdale, FL

Canada By Rail from Toronto with the Rockies

Hello, Earle!

I have returned safe and sound from a wonderful trip!  the best part being those fabulous Fairmont Hotels in which you booked us!  We had quite an adventurous time and I want to thank you so much for doing such a good job-  I upgraded to a double room for my train ride home because the roomettes are so small and I wanted a bathroom-  I met a wonderful family from England whose rooms were next to mine, so it was well worth the extra money-   so, thank-you again, for a job well done   -

Affordable Rockies

Hi Earle,

We just wanted to let you know that our trip to the Canadian Rockies was "fantastic".

Everything went perfect.  All accommodations were great and we did not have any problems during the trip.  It is truly amazing country and probably the most beautiful we have ever seen.

We also enjoyed the Calgary Stampede very much.  The parade was excellent and the Evening Show was great.  The Delta Hotel at the airport was an excellent choice.  It was so convenient to the airport and made our travels so much easier.

You really did an excellent job on our trip and we thank you again so very, very much.

If any of our friends are looking to vacation in Canada, we shall highly recommend you.
If we are ever going to Canada again we will be in touch with you.

Thanks again and we wish you the best.

Classic Rail Circle

Dear, Mr. Leaman,

Since we agreed to send you an evaluation, about the new service,  the  following are a few observations about our Rocky Mountaineer Rail Trip in British Columbia:

1.  We were very impressed by how well-organized and pre-planned our trip was.  The book of vouchers covered every detail and eliminated any questions or anxiety.

2.  In most cases our hotels were exceptionally nice.  We also appreciated the vouchers for the Vancouver Harbour Centre Lookout Tower and the Whistler Mountain Gondola.  We enjoyed both of these features very much.

3.  The train personnel were very helpful and courteous in providing information of the areas we passed through.  The maps and "newspapers" which were in the train seat pockets were also very helpful.

4.  We traveled Red Leaf for the first three days and then decided to upgrade to Gold Leaf for the last day.  We enjoyed the Red Leaf  service and the meals, although served cold and served in rather cramped conditions at our seats, were tasty and well prepared.  We were, however, amazed at the difference in quality for the Gold Leaf service.  The observation car was much more spacious and provided a much better view of the areas through which we traveled.  The meals in the Gold Leaf service were exceptional, both in the way they were served in the lower level dining area  and in the quality of the food.

5.  Since the train always traveled at "Kodak speed" or slower, it was easy to take pictures.  We appreciated the  fact that the train traveled only in daylight hours and thus  we could take in all the scenery.

6.  As we traveled from day to day we began to appreciate your advice to not pre-purchase the evening dinner package.  We found that we were well satisfied with the food served on the train and an evening snack was more than enough for senior citizens..

7.  Even though we really enjoyed the Gold Leaf service, we did have doubts about the difference in cost between Red and Gold leaf.

Vancouver is a beautiful city.  Since we arrived Saturday night, we purchased a city tour for Sunday and saw many of Vancouver's highlights, and were then dropped off at our downtown hotel.  We appreciate your research in finding public transportation for us to travel from the Travelodge in Richmond to the Sheraton Wall Centre in downtown Vancouver.  We thoroughly enjoyed the rail trip and are recommending it to our friends who might be interested in travelling.

Roger and Doris, From,  Des Moines, IA.

Rocky Mountaineer Tour

Hello Earl.

Sorry to be so late with this heartfelt "thank you" from my wife, Judy, and myself. You arranged our "Rocky Mountaineer" tour for us for September 14-24, 2005, the Gold Leaf version.  It was the most spectacular trip either of us has ever taken--and we spent 21 years travelling the world as a United States Air Force family!  I can't say enough for the seamless logistical expertise of those people who run the "Rocky Mountaineer", and I really appreciate your prompt help in overcoming potential planning rough spots.  The Gold Leaf experience is one that we will treasure for the rest of our lives...and it didn't hurt that you passed on to them that this was our 70th birthdays present to each other.  We received gifts from the train and bus tour people on both legs of the trip!  Again, Earl, many thanks for our wonderful experience.

Canada By Rail With Rockies from Toronto to Jasper and Back

Dear Earle,

We arrived home late this afternoon after a wonderful trip to Canada.
We are so pleased with the arrangements you made.  We had wonderful accommodations at Lake Louise and Banff.  The Sawridge in Jasper was very nice - as you predicted.
We were a little disappointed with the Jasper Lodge - but that may be because it came
AFTER all those other wonderful places we stayed.
The trips on the train were relaxing and fun.  We enjoyed meeting people from all over the world and
having meals with them.  We slept very well both going and coming on the train, and the food was terrific.
All the staff on the trains were very nice.  We were definitely impressed.
The drivers on the motor coaches were very well informed and personable, we thoroughly enjoyed them. When we arrived home today and looked through our mail, I found the brochure you sent us.  We will certainly contact
you when/if we are able to take another trip as you did a grand job of setting up this trip of a lifetime for us.

We are happy to have you use our thoughts on our trip in your advertising.  It truly was well planned and we
are so thankful for that.

Your Truly,

S. Walker Family, Bloomsburg, PA.

Best of Both Worlds Trip

9 Nights/10 Days

Dear, Earle,

THANK YOU for putting together such an amazing trip for us!  The accommodations and transportation were outstanding.  We couldn't believe the rooms we had at the Banff Springs and Sutton Place hotels.  What luxury!  The Rocky Mountaineer and the VIA overnight were fun experiences for both our children and us.  We were able to go to the Two Rivers Junction show in Kamloops, the Snocoach glacier trip, the Banff hot springs, and white water rafting near Lake Louise.  Our kids will have memories for a lifetime, although we're talking about going back in another 15 years to celebrate our 30th anniversary!

Thank you again for such a wonderful experience for all of us.

Canada By Rail With Rockies from Vancouver

 11 Nights/12 Days

Hi Earle!

I just wanted to say that Mom and I thoroughly enjoyed the Vancouver to Toronto Canada by Rail trip in late May.  The weather was GORGEOUS every day.  Folks in Alberta kept reminding us that it was unusual to have so many sunny days let alone cloudless days.  My photos came out great!  And the train ride was just fantastic.  Thanks again for all your help.  I've been recommending this trip (and Snowbird Travel Agency) to all my friends.

Dear, Mr. Earle Leaman,

We have traveled around Canadian Rockies and returned to Hong Kong yesterday safe.
Thank you for your kind arrangement to receive all the vouchers at the Hotel in Vancouver.
During our trip, weather was so nice except one raining day in Lake Louise and we enjoyed Vancouver and Canadian Rocky Mountains.
And also I have received credit card statement with exact amount.

Classic Rail Vacation

Dear, Earle Leaman;
Hello. Just wanted to let you know what a spectacular time Randy & I had on
our trip on the 23 Sept. 2004.  We travel frequently and consider this one of the                                                             best trips we have ever had.  We loved Calgary & Vancouver - they are both beautiful
cities (in fact we're returning to Vancouver in November to catch up on
some sights that we missed!!).

The train trip was wonderful.  We are so glad we chose the Gold Leaf
Service as the dome allowed us to see the sights even better.  Being from
Colorado we thought the Canadian Rockies would be similar to the Rockies
here in Colorado - not so!!!  They were unbelievably beautiful &
majestic.  We always were fortunate to have timed this with the changing of
the leaves - all of the colors were so spectacular.

One of the most impressive aspects of this trip was the service from our
on-board attendants (Claude, Randy, Jennifer  & Troy).  Their commentary &
fabulous service made our trip even more enjoyable...

Anyway, thanks for booking this for us - we had a great time.  We've
already recommended this to several others & hopefully they will take
advantage of the wonderful opportunity that this rail tour provides.

Thanks again - Canada is a great place!!!

Scenic Rail Journeys

Snowbird Travel Agency:

My wife and I had a delightful time and a most exciting trip on the Skeena Rail excursion, at the end of July and the first days of August. Everything went as planned, with but one slight incident. This incident actually was a comedy of errors, with most the fault assignable to a mix up in communication. The hotel people understood that we were to be picked up in front of the hotel. Following their information we went to the appointed place, at the appointed time. The Graylines people did indeed call for us, but at the hotel across the street. What caused the  mix up was that Graylines had borrowed a bus of an entirely different color. Upon being informed the Graylines people made amends by getting us to the tour at the Stanley Park site. Then as now it was a funny incident, the humor was appreciated by all involved.
The selection of accommodations, and the excellent tour people was greatly appreciated by both of us. We most certainly tell others of the beauty of the trip and the excellence of planning, and well urge others to avail themselves of Snowbird's services. Thanks again for a most enjoyable experience.

Sincerely yours,

Mr. B & Mrs. J Masat. , Davenport, ID.

Dear, Mr. Leaman

Thanks so much for your help .

We had a wonderful time in Canada.  It is a beautiful country. We were very pleased with every part of the tour.  Transportation was well organized, the hotels were wonderful and, of course, the train trip was all that we expected.

You guys did a wonderful job and we appreciate your part in our very successful vacation.

Trains Across Canada

Earle, sorry I haven't let you know sooner, but I just want to tell you that the tour you organized for us was handled wonderfully. All of the Cartan's tickets and vouchers were in order and the itinerary was completely accurate. We had a great time.
Thanks for your service. We had a great trip. You were right about Peggy's Cove, that is a place I am glad we didn't miss and as it happened I guess just a day or so after we were there part of a hurricane came through.
Yes, Earle as far as we are concerned if you would like to use the letter that will be okay with us.
I forgot to tell you that the nights spent on the train were especially fun for us. The attendants did a great job taking care to let us know what to expect. And the meals in the dining cars were great. We were surprised at the way each meal was prepared  on the train and the use of china and silverware. Exceptional!

Thanks for your help.

Catamaran Cruise in Quebec Along the St. Lawrence

Hi Earle,

Just wanted to thank you for an enjoyable trip. We left right after the blackout on Aug 18, 2003 so there were delays at the airport in New York, & we had to run to make our connection from Montreal to Quebec City, but after that everything else went smoothly.
We really enjoyed the catamaran trip along the St Lawrence, our hotels & the Quebec City tour.

Thanks again.

6 Nights/7 Days Rocky Mountaineer Railtour

Earle, thanks for your help (and patience) in arranging the Railtour.  Came back with many, many digital pictures of the trip.
The folks at Rocky Mountain Railtour "really have it all together."  They were there to pick us up at the hotel (along with several other couples) bright & early the morning of Tuesday 22nd. July 2003. We found the Gold Leaf service to be superb and they were attentive to every need and concern.
We were initially dismayed at the Caribou Lodge in Banff, because it had been extremely hot the day we arrived, and the rooms had no air conditioning.  However, the outside air quickly cooled down, and we were able to sleep comfortably with an open window and the fan that was provided.
We had a great visit to British Colombia.

Western Explorer Gold Popular

We have just returned from a fantastic trip in the Canadian Rockies by Rocky Mountaineer Railtours Tours.
Our son and daughter gave us this trip for our 50th wedding anniversary.
There were so many memorable things we can only mention a few of them.  The scenery, of course, is breathtaking.  The domed Goldleaf Railroad cars really afford a view. The food and fellowship on the train were great.  There was a lot of wildlife along the way.  Our luggage handling made things so much easier--sometimes it would already be in our rooms when we checked into the hotels.
Our anniversary trip was all we could hope for, and very special.
Thanks, Earle, for your help to our son and daughter at the Florida State Fair, then afterwards while finalizing the trip.
F & D Shupp--Ocala, Fl.

Had a great trip and the hotel accommodations you made for us were perfect!!  Thanks.  Wish I had taken your suggestion though and spent a few days in Toronto before returning to Vancouver.  It looked like a place we would have enjoyed, maybe next time.  Have a friend who says he would like to take his wife on that trip someday, will send you his email in another note. Had a great time, the scenes were magnificent and the train crews were friendly.  Met a lot of wonderful & friendly people that were traveling also. Thanks again Earle.

Maritime Customized Tour

Dear Earle Leaman,

%Snowbird Travel Agency:

On behalf of Mom, my husband, and myself, I want to thank you sincerely for all your efforts to plan such a thoroughly enjoyable trip for us.. This part of Canada is truly beautiful!

From the day in Toronto to see the city and stay in the quaint Fairmont Royal York Hotel to viewing the changing of the guard at the Citadel, we knew the trip was going to be worthwhile. The first class treatment on the Toronto to Quebec train was exceptional; Mom felt like a Queen! We especially marvelled at the majestic fields of grain, the manicured homes with bright colour flowers, and the litter free country and roadsides.

Quebec City included a city tour while we stayed at the Quebec Hilton; this is a busy city! The convenience to the rail station was ideal. Our sleeper car was comfortable and reminded us of being in a cruise ship room. The scenery was filled with foliage that we attempted to identify; we still are not sure if the purple flowers were lupines are not.

Thanks for meeting us at the train station. You definitely made that transition pleasant. The upgraded rental car to a Lincoln with air conditioning was most appreciated during the hot and humid days of our travel.

Moncton was delightful to experience from the Tidal Bore, Magnetic Hill, Centennial Park, and the neighbourhoods. Even the circular side trip to Sackville and Shediac gave us another scenic segment of New Brunswick to see.

We are home now. Mom has the scrapbook already done and is telling all her friends about the wonderful trip. We relive the days in Canada each time we see the pictures and tell someone about the trip.

Thanks again for your untiring efforts to make this short notice trip request such a pleasant and enjoyable experience for us. We find Canada to be quite beautiful, diverse, and with the nicest people. Good luck to you in your respective businesses!

Sincerely,

Dear Mr. Earle Leaman,

I wanted to thank you for putting our trip together from Toronto to Vancouver  with extra days in Toronto and Victoria
Everything was beautiful no foul ups we were expected at all points and had first class treatment all the way.  The Hotels were all excellent and the people were all friendly and very helpful.  This is one vacation I will look back on with a great deal of pleasure and would recommend this trip to anyone.

Thank you again for making this a worry free trip.

Trans Canada Rail Adventure

SNOWBIRD TRAVEL AGENCY

Hi Earle

I had a fine time on the awesome Rockies excursion. I loved VIA
(Silver-Blue), the popular hotels were just fine and at the Chateau Lake
Louise, I had a complimentary upgrade to lakeside !!...with my room right in
the center front of the building!!! I could have stayed there a week!!!

I just made one mistake, not understanding you could have Gold Leaf rail
service but still be in moderate hotels. The Red Leaf rail service was
airplane  type cold meals with no "ruffles". Quite basic, I must say.  Next
time, I'll know better how to do it. I need to see Jasper (as I only had an
overnight there), overwhelmed by the Glacier Icefields and of course, a
return to the Chateau.  Vancouver could use a few more days as well as
Victoria. I did take a side trip to Whistler which was also quite wonderful.

Thanks for everything.

Regards,     Helen Gulamerian, NJ.

Wanted to tell you that the trip 2002 was great!! It snowed and was colder than usual, but it was so beautiful that we didn't care. You have some of the most spectacular scenery I have ever seen, and we had a bus driver (Chris) on 3 of our tours that was really awesome. Thank you for all the help in arranging the trip.

Dear, Earle:

Just wanted to let you know that we just returned from Canada yesterday and were very pleased about everything about the trip you arranged for us. The pace was relaxed but active enough to keep it interesting, no slow spots and nothing rushed. A perfect balance of things to do and see while still having time to unwind. Since we were not accompanied by any other travelers, it really felt like we were on our own, which is our preference, but with the assurance that all planning was taken care of so there were no surprises (except good ones).

All the transfers worked perfectly and were on time, and the accommodations were very nice, we were upgraded a few times. All of your instructions were helpful and well organized.

I added a massage and day spa use at the Banff Springs Hotel. I would highly recommend this as an "add on" to anyone staying there. We really enjoyed their spa and pools, their waterfall heated plunge pools and indoor heated mineral pool with underwater music is not to be missed.

All in all, a wonderful trip. Thanks for your quick replies to all my questions. My friends have been marveling over my trip photos, so if any of them decides to tour Canada, I'll refer them to you to make arrangements. It was so easy to do with you by email and fax.

Thanks again.

I have just returned from your Canadian Rockies/Rail tour and want to let you know I had a wonderful time. The driver who met us at the airport and took us to Kananaskis was very friendly and informative.  Your guide for the trip, Anton (don't know his last name) was great. I felt like a family member was showing me around to their favorite places .

Thanks again,

(Majestic Rockies and Canada by Rail Tour)

We just want to say that we had a wonderful trip Richmond, VA to Calgary to Jasper to Toronto and
home,  Our driver in the Canadian Rockies was John Powers, who works for the Banff Limousine Company, and I'd like very much to write and thank him for the delightful four days we had there.  Do you have an address--E-Mail or otherwise, at which I could contact him?  Also have a couple of photos I'd like to send O. H. from Las Vegas and B. W. from Phoenix, Arizona.  They were our traveling companions in Alberta, and on the train to Toronto, and we failed to exchange addresses.  If this is something you can do, I'd appreciate having their addresses too. Also want you to know that we had no problem at all, checking into the Royal York at 4:30 A.M.  Thanks for your help.  Too, the train staff was very helpful with the problems caused by the train's being 7 hours late getting into Toronto.
Again, this was a wonderful trip, and we will recommend your company to other people.

Thanks,
E. L.

(Victoria, Vancouver, Rail and the Canadian Rockies Customized Individual  Tour)

Just wanted to say thanks for arranging such a great trip for us!
Everything went very smoothly and we loved it all-the train trip, the hotels, the self-drive trip.  With all the fun and wonderful things we did, we both agreed that the drive up and down the Icefields Parkway was number 1.

Just a suggestion for your file: When checking in for the Rocky Mountaineer train in Vancouver, they take your bags before you check in (as you know, passengers may take on board only an overnight bag.)

Thanks again for your great planning and for all the info you sent.

We're glad to have found you on the Internet!
